On the 11th of January 1980 Joy Division did a gig in Paradiso, Amsterdam. The afternoon before the concert frontman Ian Curtis visited Zsa Zsa Linnemann, who he had met in London. Zsa Zsa was preparing her admission to the Rietveld Academy of Fine Arts, and had made a t-shirt with the text
The Sound and the Fury (after a novel by William Faulkner). Curtis noticed the t-shirt and borrowed it for the concert. Though Joy Division always performed in suits, and the rest of the band was not amused by this breach of the dresscode, Curtis wore the t-shirt that night on stage in Paradiso. This resulted in the well-known concertpicture of Lex van Rossen, the only one with Curtis not wearing a suit. Zsa Zsa Linnemann decided to re-issue this shirt, thirty years later, in a limited edition.
